New blog, who this?

Introducing the Ghost powered blog!

This is my third attempt at creating a blog for sharing some of the cool stuff (at least, in my opinion) that I do. Previously I had a self hosted WordPress site, it worked well but I want a more simple solution, so then a few years later I setup a Gatsby.js powered site hosted on Cloudflare workers. This was great, it was fast and having no infrastructure to maintain was nice, however I wanted even simpler again.

Introducing the Ghost powered blog! Simple, speedy, easy to set up, has a built in method to have subscribers, the default theme's are enough for me for now so here we are. I've now created the About and Contact pages, they aren't anything fancy but small steps are key.

It's been over 7 years since I did that first WordPress blog, ever since then I always talk about wanting to do a blog and when I received some encouragement from my psychologist to just start somewhere (small steps!) this is what's happened, we're now live.

Why has it taken so long?

I've often found it hard to start, I think mostly it's the fact that I want to have it perfect for I share the blog with the world, after all even if I only ever talk about technology here I still feel like I'm sharing a piece of myself and the fear of criticism is strong. However I'm working towards being more vulnerable, if you don't know me personally I often put on a pretty brave face but to paraphrase some a work-friend said to me recently:

"I think it's braver to share what's really going on"

The path forward

A while ago I did start just a basic list in my notes app of some blog post idea's so I might be dusting those off real soon for more content. If you would like to follow along please use the subscribe button below to get e-mail notifications when I post!
